Volunteers are a vital part of our program and assist AKG staff with various roles and responsibilities within the Shelter Program. Anyone that is interested in volunteering for AKG will:
Submit a letter of interest to volunteer along with a current resume outlining your education, experience, and areas of interest.
An interview appointment will be arranged with the Executive Coordinator and the Financial Administrator Assistant.
Employment, Volunteer, or placement positions are conditional on the Vulnerable Sector Check
It is understood that all volunteers are required to sign an “Oath of Confidentiality” and are responsible for conducting themselves in accordance to AKG’s Code of Conduct and to adhere to the same Policies and Procedures of AKG’s staff.
Volunteers are often needed to assist the Residential Counsellor with the delivery of program services, including group discussions, transportation, grocery shopping, CYC support, house outings, and promotional/awareness events.
Periodically volunteers may have the opportunity to participate in Staff group training.
