AKG provides a wholistic & balanced approach to healing and is an integral component of a client’s stay. Clients have the opportunity to participate in weekly in-house programming with other women to discuss and learn about various topics that may apply to the reason (s) why they came to the Shelter. All participants will complete a self-evaluation using the “Medicine Wheel”, and evaluate their Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual needs.
Programming topics may depend on the needs and interests of the women in the house at that time. This is an ideal time for residents and staff to interact and become acquainted with each other while staying at the shelter.
The topics may include: A discussion on the Types of Abuse? Healthy Relationships versus Unhealthy relationships, Making Change, Self-Esteem, Budgeting, Traditional Teachings, Meditation and Self-Care
